Shoreline Lawns in Warwick
Hydroseeding in Warwick means working close to salt water. The city's whole eastern edge is waterfront on the Providence River, Conimicut Point marks where that river becomes Narragansett Bay, and the Warwick Neck and Potowomut peninsulas wrap around Greenwich Bay. Nearly 30 percent of the city's total area is water, and the city elevation is only about 20 feet, so many lawns sit low, close to coves and wetlands.
Salt spray and wind
Yards on the points and necks take salt spray in storms. We lean on fescue blends that put up with salt and wind better than a pure bluegrass mix, and we tackify the mulch heavily so the onshore breeze does not lift it before seed sprouts.
Flood recovery along the Pawtuxet
The Pawtuxet River forms Warwick's border with Cranston for its last 3 miles. In March 2010 the river crested at 20.8 feet and swamped the Warwick Mall and many homes. Some yards near the river were regraded after that and never fully filled in. We bring them back with topsoil, grading that sheds water away from the house, and a full hydroseed.
Near the coastal wetlands
Work close to shoreline or wetland edges can fall under state coastal or wetland rules. If your project is in a regulated buffer, we set silt fence or a sediment log where the plans call for it and keep bare soil covered quickly.
Parks show what grows here
Goddard Memorial State Park, about 490 acres on Greenwich Cove and Greenwich Bay, keeps open lawns and game fields close to the water. Those fields are a good reminder that turf holds up on this coast when the soil is fed and the grass type fits.

- Flood of 2010. The March 2010 Pawtuxet flood swamped the Warwick Mall and many homes and closed schools because of washouts.

Warwick Questions
Which grass handles salt spray on Warwick Neck?
Tall fescue and fine fescue blends usually handle salt and wind better than straight bluegrass. We pick the mix for each yard.
Can you seed near a coastal wetland?
Often yes, but some projects need state approval first. We follow the approved plan and put sediment controls where it shows them.
My yard holds water after storms. Will hydroseed fix that?
Seed alone will not. We regrade low spots so water drains away, then seed.
Does the wind blow the mulch away?
We add tackifier to the slurry so the mulch bonds to the soil and stays put in a breeze.
